I heard this guy for the first time tonight and I must say I was impressed.  Good lyrical hip hop that flows and has my head bobbing.  Belive me that is tough to do.  From Florida this guy is serious.  You need to check this guy and 3rd Eye Entertainment out.  We are going to get him on our radio, but in the meantime you can check his music out for your self.  Shae from Dade

Scrappy Radio is excited to feature Arden Park Roots out of Sacramento California.

Dr. Pete Venkman writes:

Well today boys and girls we are going to visit with our friends Arden Park Roots…straight outta Sac-town. Ok ok, enough Mr. Rogers nonsense…let’s get to talking music.

I have had a few opportunities to check out Arden Park Roots, affectionately known to fans as AP Roots, at a few different local Sacto venues. These young guys are pretty impressive especially given the throng of reggae-rock type bands currently out in the California transom. Right now my two unsigned fave’s in this genre include these guys and Seed from Bakersfield.

First I have to say that the guys from AP Roots have more than their fair share of adoring female fans and that is more than a plus in my book. But let me tell ya, AP Roots is more than just some hot piece of ass – and I say that with an unblemished record of staunch heterosexuality. These guys can play, sing and write. As Yoda would say, “Very talented musicians, yes they are, mmmmm!”

Tyler Campbell, vocalist supremo for AP Roots leads this band with talent and confidence. His vocals sound even better live than they do recorded and as we all know, that is a key mark of a good band! The rest of the guys have significant talent as well, in fact I really dig how the bass playing of Ben Jones and guitar work of Matt Seidel blend together like a well-mixed margarita on a hot July day at Lost Island. Rounding out the back end (again I point to that unblemished record)the solid percussion work of Justin Higdon gives the band its strong spine and distinctive soul.

So far, my favorite song, live or recorded, from these guys is “The Hard Way.” Quality is all I have to say about that one.

Overall, Arden Park Roots’ greatest strength is in the songwriting. Their tunes have a little bit more mainstream hook than some of their reggae-rock counterparts, and that is a good thing. The band clearly exhibits some of the same crossover and broad-based ability as groups like the Expendables or Voodoo Glow Skulls. Not surprising considering that they will be opening up for the Voodoo Glow Skulls later this month – check their website for details!

All in all, Arden Park Roots has a lot of potential and can definitely make an impact in the scene. I look forward to their growth and development in the coming months and years. They certainly has the talent, ability and appeal to make some big strides. Catch Arden Park Roots next on Friday, Feb 8 at Pistol Pete’s in Auburn. Peace!

I must say this not only about Kanye, but about the entire hip hop industry. I am getting tired of the electronic voice distortion or whatever the hell it is called.

The beats on the album are nice, the lyrics pretty good, but I would love to hear Kanye’s actual voice. Experimental or not I miss the Chi guy’s voice.

Finally, when you hear this album you can’t help but want to give him a hug.
