{February 27, 2009}   Shayne Sandelle

Hey! I’m Shayne and I would love for you to check out my music! I am a singer/songwriter from Tennessee and I have some MP3s up on my myspace page: www.myspace.com/shaynesandelle
check ‘em out!

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girl please prepare yourselves to receive breaking news about the next best thing to hit the music world, changing the industry like never before. Thanks to the creative genius of Grant Kevins and Chris Berena, Scrappy Music was birthed to transform the independent music scene. Kevins and Berena started their empire with humble beginnings through their Scrappy Apparel Company, producing custom attire for artists and bands. The Scrappy Apparel Company still creates unique artwork for artists with new music by screen printing custom designs onto t-shirts.

Now I want you to lean in close so I can give you the ultimate scoop on Scrappy Music. Kevins and Berena didn’t just stop at jazzing up artists with their one of a kind merchandise. They went a step further and formed Scrappy Radio, an online collection of exclusive new music from independent artists across the globe. Scrappy Music put its ear to the street and reached out to the REAL untapped talent in the music industry. So if you don’t want to just listen to music you can submit music online. Scrappy Music’s Internet radio even allows fans access to listen to the fresh sounds of the unheard musicians.

Not only does Scrappy Music promote your music online, but they can hook you up with Koch Records, the largest independent distributor in Canada and the U.S. To get the full scoop on Scrappy Music check out http://www.scrappymusic.com

And while Kanye said it before, I think we all can reach the general

consensus in the music world that Scrappy Music is offering cutting edge

services to serious musicians and fans. Ladies and gentlemen welcome to the

GOOD LIFE. . . . . . . . .

{February 11, 2009}   It’s still good to be original

The industry is not full of copycats. Contrary to popular belief, record labels and A&R’s are not looking for anybody that sounds like anybody else. Originality is still what sells. It is still in high demand from us, the consumer, therefore, to generate maximum sales, you wanna sell what your customer wants.
Now, that being said, what you will hear is that someone has the same feel or flavor of someone else. “He kinda sounds like Stevie Wonder.” might be heard, and out of context, this might seem like that person is interested because he sounds like mr. Wonder. However, this is simply a complement and an attempt by a person to explain the feeling or style of an artist, and NOT an actual comparison.
Bottum line is this, do your art, from your heart. Don’t be afraid to take chances with your art and do the original things that come into your head. All the greats have done just that, honed their craft, trusted themselves, believed in themselves, and truely kept it original.
Don’t ever stop Power to you!

{February 9, 2009}   Put your best foot forward

When it comes to showcasing your talent, you only get one chance at a first impression. That being said, you want to make that first impression count, and that means your best songs 1st, with at least a mixdown (and if possible mastered), on a proffessional looking cd, not a copy.
Think about it, anyone you give your music to that’s worth his/her salt, is going to be receiving possibly hundreds of cd’s a week. I can tell you right now, the majority of them are thrown out on looks alone. Another big bunch of them are tossed out on the basis of poor sound quality. the few that actually get listened to are the proffessional looking, and sounding ones. However, if they don’t like the feel of that first song they might not even listen to the secound, let alone the third.
It’s also good to know the people you are submitting your music to.
Be sure to customize your demo to what they might be looking for. Do your research. Don’t just guess. Find out who the just signed, what songs the just released, what does their website say and promote. The more research the better your chances so no slacking. You’ll only get out of it what you put in.
Lastly, if you can include proffessional bio and pictures, it will only help your cause. Remember, the more it looks as though you are a proffessional buisness man or women, and have that buisness together, the more likely they are to lend you their proffessional ear.
Don’t ever stop! Power to you!

Rational Chaos

I must say this not only about Kanye, but about the entire hip hop industry. I am getting tired of the electronic voice distortion or whatever the hell it is called.

The beats on the album are nice, the lyrics pretty good, but I would love to hear Kanye’s actual voice. Experimental or not I miss the Chi guy’s voice.

Finally, when you hear this album you can’t help but want to give him a hug.
